Be a Guitar Hero at E for All
Think you have what it takes to be a Guitar Hero? Find out next week at E for All!
Target, in conjunction with Activision and Red Octane, is sponsoring a mini-tournament that will be open to E for All attendees. The event puts an axe in your hand as you try to master Guitar Hero II, pitted against professional gamers who have won Guitar Hero competitions in the past.
Even if you're done with Guitar Hero II, however, there's more great news -- look for Guitar Hero III, which will be playable on the show floor. In fact, it'll be your first chance to get your hands on the game, which Activision isn't releasing until October 28, 2007.
Taking a page from "American Idol," celebrity judges will determine the final winner. So it's not just about hitting the right notes at the right time -- this is about style, too.
Do you have what it takes to compete with the big dogs? Find out next week -- the tournament runs Oct. 18, 19, 20 and 21. The contest will be managed by Major League Gaming, which will be coordinating mini-tournaments along with at least three other titles.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock features a new multiplayer gameplay mode called "Battle Mode," where you face off against another opponent, trying to complete a song while you use "Star Power" to earn attacks you can use against your foe, like broken strings and amp overload. Dozens of new songs are included -- everything from "Anarchy in the U.K." by The Sex Pistols to "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses.
