The people have spoken! People's Choice award winners listed

The People's Choice Voting program encouraged attendees of E for All to vote for what they though was the best product (in a number of different categories) using their cell phones, from the show floor itself, and the results are here.

Many times when you read "Best of" lists from trade shows, they're prepared in advance of the events themselves, which means those lists can appear in something of a vacuum. We took a decidedly different approach with this event, which is based on attendee feedback, not what judges or journos thought.

Twenty four categories were represented all together -- everything from console and computer games to handheld games, hardware and more. Screens located around the E for All space at the Los Angeles Convention Center asked visitors to vote for their favorites in these different categories by texting a multiple choice entry to a special number. Each person could vote only once, to avoid stacking the votes in any particular categories.

The People's Choice vote for favorite action game went to Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy, for the Wii. Favorite Hardware was the Generation NEX Video Game Console from Messiah Entertainment, and Favorite Adventure Game was Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass from Nintendo. Konami's Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles tied for Favorite Action Game for handheld systems, while THQ's Ratatouille (based on the Disney/Pixar film) picked up the nod for Favorite Child & Family Game. Messiah Entertainment's Hardware Console Armor also picked up the nod for Favorite Gaming Gear, and Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl was recognized as the Favorite Fighting/Wrestling Game.

Favorite Child/Family Game for handheld was a tie between EA Mobile's Tetris for the iPod and Nintendo's Mario Party DS. Favorite Music & Dancing Game went to Harmonix's Rock Band, while Favorite Accessory was the Novint Falcon, a 3D gaming peripheral with force feedback.

Namco Networks' Super Yum Yum 2 was the Favorite Puzzle Game, while Burnout, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights and Cars: Mater-National saw a three-way tile for Favorite Racing Game on mobile devices. Favorite Racing Game overall was also a tie between Donkey Kong Barrel Blast from Nintendo and Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights.

LumiSource's FRG Boom Chair got the nod for Favorite Gaming Chair (believe it or not, there was more than one gaming chair maker at the show), while Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn from Nintendo got the nod for Favorite Role-Playing Game. Favorite Simulation Game was EA Mobile's SimCity societies, and Favorite Shooter Game went to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from Activision, the first game in the Call of Duty series not set in World War II. Favorite Sound & Lights Accessory was the Darklite Integrated Lightbar from Messiah Entertainment, while Namco got the vote for Favorite Sports Game with Pool Pro Online II. Favorite Sports, Fighting and Wrestling Game on mobile devices was EA Mobile's Madden NFL 08, and Favorite Strategy Game was a two-way split between Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (a console-only version of the legendary strategy game) and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Beginning of Destiny, from 2K Games and Konami, respectively.

Mimoco's Halo Mimobot, USB thumbdrives that looks like Master Chief, Red and Blue Spartans from Halo, took the vote for Favorite Memory Accessory. Favorite Trivia Game went to EA's Smarty Pants, and Favorite Strategy Game for handhelds was Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution.
