Mary Dolaher appears on Bonus Round
Gametrailers video program "Bonus Round" recently featured a panel discussion about the evolution of E3 to the existing E3 Media and Business Summit, and (of course) E4. Sure, we call it E4 all the time - but you know what it's really called.
Geoff Keighley interviews
- Michael Pachter, a gaming industry analyst from Wedbush and Morgan Securities
- Tammy Schachter, Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Electronic Arts
- Mary Dolaher, who is not only our illustrious Executive Director and CEO of IDG World Expo, but she was involved in the creation of E3 and ran it for 12 years.
They explain (quite well) why E3 had to be re-imagined into the E3 Media and Business Summit, and what we can expect to see there in July. Then they talk about how there was this one day, many years ago, when E3 was actually open to the public. Apparently the attendees didn't behave themselves and ruined it for everyone. I guess that makes E for All a second chance - a chance for gamer redemption. Or not - maybe it's just a golden opportunity to play and (hopefully) buy stuff before your friends.
I'lll be honest, I'm still pretty disappointed that E3 changed. I enjoyed it immensely over the past four years, and I especially enjoyed delivering it to people through E3Insider.com. But the Summit seems like a good way to go, and the decision to go that way has paved the way for E for All, Mary's latest brainchild.
