Final Fantasy IV confirmed for U.S., Chrono Trigger possible
A U.S. DS release of Final Fantasy IV has been all but confirmed by Nintendo Power. Could an even bigger Square Enix game remake be far behind?
I don't care what they say, it's still "spoony bard" in my book.
Lunar Whales and brainwashed brothers are coming soon to North American Nintendo DS systems as Nintendo Power confirmed today a U.S. release of Final Fantasy IV with translated screenshots and a cover article on the game.
While no release date was given by the magazine in its 10-page spread on the development of the title, the screenshots were presented in all their English language translated glory.
That said, the bigger news discussed by Square Enix's Takashi Tokita in the article was what could (or could not) be coming next.
"Chrono Trigger was a no-holds-barred, swashbuckling adventure that was a lot of fun to work on... If the demand is great enough, it's certainly possible [to create a remake]. But as a creator, I feel the need to create new titles and not just series installments and remakes. I realize it's a little strange for me to be saying that in an interview about Final Fantasy IV (laughs). But I need to remind myself of that, too," Takashi said.
Chrono Trigger DS is by no means a title that's even close to being worked on by Square Enix, but Takashi's comments would appear to indicate that, should fans rise up and ask for it, there's a chance that Crono, Lucca and Marle could be making their way to the handheld in due time.
